I ride/race dirtbike. Started when I was 9 and have been doing it for 12yrs. Its fun and an easy way to calm the need for speed I have.

I know what you mean. I used to dirt bike, but I also rode my friends. I had a four wheeler but I ran it into a fence like the genius I am, so that kind of ended that. But I want one again.

Re: A little bit of all year round fun!

I have been fiending for another dirt bike. I've been kinda looking for a CR250, YZ250, RM250, KX250....well, you get the picture. Last Christmas I had a blast on my brother's four wheeler in the snow. I've never been much for four wheelers but I'm sure thinking about a Raptor...and the new 700 Raptor? Oh yeah, I could hurt myself on that.

Haha, ohhh yah. I'm looking around for them, I don't know its just nuts how much I would end up spending on one. But I want one anyways. Not sure yet where I will put it. But you know. I've been looking at a Polaris Sportsman 400 which would be great if I could handle it, and afford it.

Re: A little bit of all year round fun!

For winter theres nothing more fun that a snowmobile. I have a 1997 Yamaha 600SX- studded... blah blah.

A 4Wheeler is more practical though for all year fun. The winters here are getting way too weak for snowmobiling. We keep them at our cabin in WI where there is a bit more snow than here.

Re: A little bit of all year round fun!

I have had either a three wheeler or a four wheeler since I was about 6 years old and many many dirt bikes as well. I now have a 2002 Honda 400 Foreman 4x4, it has the big tire and wheel kit on it (28X10.5). And for the winter I put the stock tired and rims on it with cleated chains on all four tires. It actually goes really good in the snow unless you get it hung up.

But I have to agree with Peter, snowmobiling is a more fun winter sport if you can find snow. I actually just bought a new sled a few minutes ago, well its not new but different. I currently have a 99 Ski Doo MXZ 700 and a 1996 Artic Cat 440Z, and I just bought a 1999 Polaris XC600. I think I am selling the Ski Doo though since I don't need three of these things. And I like the Polaris more since its a fucking rocket ship compared to that heavy ass Ski Doo.

Re: A little bit of all year round fun!

Nice choice on the 99 XC600, thats what my dad rides. It consistently pulls away from new 700 Polaris's, MXZ's, and pretty much anything and all it has is some minor clutching changes that I have no idea about. All I know is it does about 105mph and is fun as all hell from 20-100mph, goes like hell.

I have been snowmobiling since I was like 2yrs old. When me and Santa (Kevin) were like 6 or 7 or something, we got a Kiddy Kat given to us for pretty much an entire winter. We rode the piss out of that sled forever, and thats how we learned to build jumps, go up onto one ski, "drift" ect..... Funnest time of my life possibly, god was that fun.

Then I got a beater 1980 Yamaha Enticer 300, and we managed to thrash the shit out of that for like 4 years, and I mean thrash the shit out of it. Go off big jumps, go ditch banging, do pretty much anything the new big sleds could do. We managed to tear the track, and we got a new one. The sled still runs like brand new, and probably has to have 25,000 miles on it by now or so.

Then I got my current sled, a "beater" 1987 Yamaha Exciter 570. It ran really really well for a few years, it could beat quite a few sled's when it didn't bog after the first 30mph. For the past 2yrs it has had a problem that I cant yet figure out how to Diagnose. It isn't a carb issue, but doesnt seem to be a clutch issue either. When you let off the gas, the sled tends to bog down and want to die, or does die. I plan on getting it fixed before this winter, because I want to finish beating the fuck out of that sled too.

My dad has been a die hard polaris guy for a while now.

1990 Indy 500 (Best sled ever made? I think so)
1994 XLT 600 with the XTRA12 rear suspension
1999 XC 600, his current sled, which he loves. I have yet to find any snowmobiles that handle better then the polaris CRC system, it just feels like it is on rails. The motors in them also just pull so smoothly its crazy. Only problem is the track tends to come out easily, which I love, but he doesnt like constantly having to correct his course going around a sweeping turn.

After school I will definitely be getting probably a 2002 XC 700 or something, because quite frankly, I don't want anything faster.

Re: A little bit of all year round fun!

I don't know much about snowmobiles in general, I just have fun riding them. I've never owned one, I've always ridden my friends ones. But I had a four wheeler, a small one. I just want one small enough for me to handle, but big enough to be able to ride it like hella fun

Yeah the XC sleds really haul some ass. I can verify that the XC 600 I bought will pull away from my 99 MXZ 700 like its standing still. But your right about the ass end sliding out all the time due to its low weight and tremendous power band. Time for some studs before it snows.

You can find decent ATVs for fairly cheap these days. And they are cheap to insure and you can use them all year around, not a bad investment for entertainment. Definetly cheaper than owning a modded DSM thats for sure.
