The car has 'generic electrical issues.' These are always hard to diagnose. The fact that there is an ECU problem and "possibly bad alternator" at the same time throws up a red flag for me. Beyond that, there may be other issues with the engine/tranny that he is covering up. Its especially suspicious that he will not allow you to check the car or have it checked out.

I could see that attitude from someone who just hates the car, is sick of it, and wants out without having to deal with shit, but if that were the case I would expect a rock bottom price, which his asking price certainly is not.

actually he wont let a shop look at it, but I can have my friend send out one of his hardcore dsm mechanics to go check it out.

Hey would you think changing out the engine wiring harness out help as well as the alternator and ECU?
